This page is incorporated by reference into the General Medical Disclaimer, Waiver & Health Acknowledgment that every account holder and every guest accepts.
Every VAVE System delivers, by default, music (audio) and multi-channel vibration. Depending on your System's configuration and enabled modules, a session may also include biofeedback sensing, which at launch comes from a compatible headband that reads heart rate and EEG. A heart-rate chest strap and voice analysis are possible future sensors. Light, PEMF (pulsed electromagnetic fields) and virtual reality (VR) are planned modalities and are not currently available on any VAVE System. The guidance on this page covers them so that the information is complete and consistent if and when they are introduced. Most people can use these modalities comfortably, but the conditions below deserve attention before your first session.
We recommend that you obtain clearance from your primary care physician before using a VAVE System if any of the following applies to you:
If your health profile or a pre-session screening reports a condition, the in-app flow records the condition and permits you to proceed only after the recorded condition-triggered acknowledgment described in the General Medical Disclaimer (Section 5): physician clearance confirmed, or risks accepted.
No risk-acknowledgment path is offered for the following hard blocks, and none will be offered — they cannot be re-enabled by acknowledging the risk:
These modalities can be restored only by updating your health profile if the condition no longer applies.
Proximity caution — PEMF (if and when introduced). A PEMF field extends beyond the System itself. If and when PEMF is introduced on VAVE Systems, persons with a pacemaker, defibrillator, neurostimulator, or other implanted electronic device, and persons who are or may be pregnant, should keep their distance from the System while PEMF is operating — this applies to people near the System, not only the person on it. This caution applies today to the standalone ResonantVibe Grounding PEMF Biomat: it is manually operated, is not part of any VAVE System, and none of the automatic protections described on this page apply to it (see Section 7) — bystanders with implanted electronic devices, and bystanders who are or may be pregnant, should keep their distance from the Biomat whenever it is operating.
Sound and vibration — the modalities available today. Sound and vibration are the only modalities currently available on any VAVE System (Section 1), and every automatic protection and hard block described above concerns a planned modality. The Section 2 conditions carry the clinician-clearance recommendation above, the recorded acknowledgment described at the start of this Section and the Section 4 rules, and no automatic modality protection is claimed for sound or vibration.
Different VAVE Systems have different features. Your health information is checked against the features of the System you are actually using, at the time of each session. A modality that is disabled on one System may simply not exist on another. Where a System does not include a modality, no condition relating to that modality will affect your session on that System.
You do not need a VAVE account to take part in a session that an owner, an operator, a practitioner or another account holder runs for you. If someone else is running your session:
Start at low intensity.
Protect your hearing. Use the lowest volume that is comfortable for you, especially when using headphones. Prolonged listening at high volume can damage your hearing. Start low and increase gradually — and stop the session if you experience ringing in your ears or discomfort.
How to stop a session. You can stop or pause a session at any time:
Stop the session if you feel pain, numbness, tingling, dizziness, nausea, or chest discomfort — and seek medical attention if symptoms are concerning. Do not use a VAVE System while driving or operating machinery.
Session limits. VAVE Mer · Ka · Ba, the self-guided session, carries a suggested limit of 45 minutes of vibration per session. Talk, silence and guidance don't count; only the minutes the platform is vibrating. The App counts the minutes of vibration in each VAVE Mer · Ka · Ba session so that the App can show a notice. At 45 minutes, the App shows a notice that the suggested 45 minutes is reached. To continue, you acknowledge the notice, and the App records your acknowledgment. The System does not stop the session when the suggested 45 minutes is reached.
The suggested 45 minutes is a precautionary limit set by ResonantVibe pending medical review. It is not a clinical recommendation or a safety threshold.
ActiVAVE and VAVE Practice carry no limit. VAVE Extended carries no cap.
Your first session. Keep your first session short and see how you feel.
Supervised sessions. VAVE Extended is the session beyond 45 minutes of vibration, with a trained operator present throughout, and is available only through the practitioner channel.
Format assignment for live sessions. The booked duration of a live session dictates its format. A live session whose vibration exposure exceeds the suggested 45 minutes is a VAVE Extended session, whatever it was called at booking, and carries VAVE Extended's operator requirement. This rule governs VAVE Mer · Ka · Ba sessions; ActiVAVE and VAVE Practice carry no limit.
Supervision means a trained operator present throughout, and able to stop the session. Able to stop the session means knowing what to stop it for. A supervising operator must know the stop-session signs stated earlier in this Section — pain, numbness, tingling, dizziness, nausea or chest discomfort, and, on the hearing caution above, ringing in the ears or discomfort — and must stop the session on any of them, whether or not the person on the System asks for it. A format run without that supervision is not a supervised session for this purpose, and the suggested 45 minutes above applies to it.
The session formats. These are defined here by the facts this Section turns on, supervision and the suggested limit, and not by any marketing description of the experience.
| Format | Supervised? | Session limit |
|---|---|---|
| VAVE Mer · Ka · Ba (self-guided) | No. The self-guided session, run by the person using the System | A suggested limit of 45 minutes of vibration per session: at 45 minutes the App shows the notice, and the session continues once you acknowledge the notice |
| ActiVAVE | Yes, when delivered live. Supervised active / class format — a trained operator present throughout. From playback it is self-guided and needs neither a lead nor a Streamer | No limit |
| VAVE Practice | Yes. Supervised practitioner-led format — the practitioner present throughout | No limit |
| VAVE Extended | Yes. Supervised long-form format — a trained operator present throughout | No cap |
The three format categories. Every session format falls into one of three categories, and the category is what sets the supervision the format requires.
Levels. A session plays at Sing or at Ring only when all three conditions hold: the System's room level allows that level; the participant wears headphones and lies still; and, while the session plays at Sing or Ring, everyone else in the room wears hearing protection. Every VAVE Mer · Ka · Ba and VAVE Extended session plays in headphones, at every level, for the whole session; without headphones the session does not start. The level is how far up its range the platform plays: at Hum, the platform plays so that people in the room can talk and hold a conversation; at Sing, it is played higher up its range and sounds in the room; at Ring, it is played as an instrument to the top of its range. Every session plays at every level and never above the System's room level; ResonantVibe's sound engineer signs off each session at each level, and VAVE OS composes nothing. A participant's first three sessions of VAVE Mer · Ka · Ba, ActiVAVE playback or VAVE Extended are the intro program: Mer, then Ba, then Mer, Ka and Ba, each at the level the owner chose when the room was calibrated. VAVE Practice and live ActiVAVE play at Hum, with a practitioner or lead present, and the intro program does not gate them. VAVE OS keeps the program for that participant's profile; after the program, the participant may take any session, at any level the room level allows. A guest whose session runs on the confirmation of the person running the session (Section 3A) starts at the first step; for a guest they know, the person running the session may choose a later step, and the App records that choice as theirs. ActiVAVE sessions in which participants move without headphones play at Hum. We recommend choosing a session with a Ka only once you can complete a Mer session and a Ba session comfortably. Ka is the composition for activation. Emotion can surface during activation; begin a Ka session knowing that. Every session with a Ka ends with Ba, the composition for integration, so the session moves from grounding, through activation, to settling. A nervous system moves between activation and rest, and returns to rest in its own time.
No VAVE session is offered for use with any substance taken to alter the state of mind, and none may be run that way.
Between sessions: take breaks, stay hydrated, and end a session early if you feel discomfort or fatigue.
Do not use a System on broken skin, submerge it, or use it in a sauna or steam environment. Do not use it while you have a fever or symptoms of contagious illness. Keep small accessories away from children — they are not toys and may present choking hazards. Clean sensor contact surfaces as described in your System's Instructions For Use.
VAVE Systems and the Services are for adults only. You must be 18 or older to hold a VAVE account and to use a VAVE System. No one under 18 may use a VAVE System.
If you experience an adverse event or injury involving a VAVE System, stop use and contact us at support@resonantvibe.com. Nothing on this page limits your right to report a problem to us or to any authority.
Items that are not part of your VAVE System. We sometimes supply items that we do not make and that are not part of your System or controlled by the App — for example a manually operated PEMF mat. Those items have their own instructions, their own safety warnings and their own contraindications, and none of the automatic protections described on this page apply to them. Read the manufacturer's manual before use. The standalone ResonantVibe Grounding PEMF Biomat is supplied under the ResonantVibe name and carries our logo, so please report any adverse event, injury or fault involving it to us as well as to its manufacturer — we treat those reports as our own for safety-reporting purposes. If something goes wrong with any such item, tell us as well as the manufacturer.
